ISO 1832 insert code decoder
Type the code, read what each position means and see the insert drawn to its dimensions. Tables come from ISO 1832 and manufacturer catalogues; every row links to its source.

Code not readable. The first ten positions must be: 4 letters + 2 digits (size) + 2 characters (thickness, T1–T3 allowed) + 2 characters (radius, M0 for round inserts).
Anatomy of the code

| 1 | Shape | C = 80° rhombic |
| 2 | Clearance angle | N = 0° (negative insert) |
| 3 | Tolerance class | M = pressed, general purpose |
| 4 | Hole and chipbreaker | G = cylindrical hole, chipbreaker both faces |
| 5–6 | Cutting edge length | 12 → 12.9 mm (d = 12.7 mm) |
| 7–8 | Thickness | 04 → 4.76 mm |
| 9–10 | Corner radius | 08 → 0.8 mm |

Tolerance classes (± mm)
For classes J to U the m and d tolerances grow with the inscribed circle; the range shown runs from the smallest to the largest standard size. Ground classes (A, C, E, F, G, H) hold the inscribed circle tightly; pressed-and-sintered classes (M, U) are the common roughing choice.
